I Underestimated The Dark Knight Rises

Yesterday I implied that they’d run out of video to advertise the movie with, which was why they’d switched to audio. But I was wrong. So wrong. Cause here’s more video. Amazing. Where do they keep finding it?

Anyway, more footage. This is just Gordon and whathisface, discussing the Batman. I don’t like it. I mean, first of all, I’ve already discussed my dislike of the “Batman Retired” story. But this is worse. This devalues the entire end of The Dark Knight. Remember? Gordon’s all “He’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we’ll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.” And then Batman drives out of the darkness into the light. And the music’s all “whoomp, whoomp, whoomp-whoomp whoomp!”. I may have seen it a couple of times.

But according to this clip, that’s the night he retired. We thought it ended with him running off to continue fighting the good fight. Even though the city hates him, he’ll keep fighting for them, because that’s the man he is. The city’s true hero. But apparently not. Apparently that’s the night he stopped Batmaning. Six months? That’s probably enough Batman for one life time. I don’t want to hear that. Stupid Dark Knight Rises.
